Examining Variation in Causal Effects in Psychology (EVINCE Psychology)
Randomized experiments in psychology and other fields aim to study the underlying causes of human behaviour. However, it is not always clear whether and if so why experimental effects are stronger for some people than for others, and why similar studies often yield different results. To better understand variation in found effects and to generalize these for theory and practice, this project studies methodological challenges that could potentially create biases outcomes and incorrect conclusions. The project develops and validates new psychometric, statistical, and methodological solutions allowing researchers in many fields to better understand when and for whom effects emerge.
