Why null-results matter: Fixing bias in science

dr. Marjan Bakker

Scientific knowledge is often built on studies that show significant results, while studies that find “no effect” receive far less attention. This project investigates why these null results are undervalued and how this distorts scientific conclusions. By studying how researchers, journals, and evaluation systems treat different types of results, the project identifies where bias arises and how it can be reduced. Ultimately, it aims to make science more reliable by ensuring that all results, significant or not, contribute to knowledge.
