SMART-META: Smarter Meta-Analysis for More Trustworthy Evidence

dr. Robbie van Aert

Meta-analyses combine results from multiple studies and often inform policy, professional practice, and future research. But their conclusions can be misleading when studies, results, or data of individual participants are more likely to be published when they show favorable findings. The SMART-META project will develop new methods to study the robustness of meta-analytic conclusions. These methods will be made freely available in open-source software, and the methods will be used to study the robustness of the conclusions of published meta-analyses. This project will help researchers draw more reliable meta-analytic conclusions and strengthen the evidence used in research, policy, and practice.
